BIOS Integrity
Hackers often try to gain access under a device OS into its BIOS. If a compromised version of the BIOS is discovered during power-up, HP Sure Start restarts the printer with a safe, golden copy of the BIOS.
Whitelisting (Firmware)
HP’s whitelisting is Common Criteria Certified and makes sure the firmware is digitally signed by HP. Any sign of tampering reboots the printer to a secure state.
Memory Monitoring
Run-time Intrusion Detection is active during the riskiest time: when the printer is on and connected to the network. Unusual activity results in a memory-cleaning reboot.
Surveys the Network
HP Connection Inspector checks the printer’s outbound data for packets typically used by hackers. Any suspicious data request triggers a self-healing reboot.

Controls can be put in place to restrict access to the control panel on the device, plus the USB port can be disabled or access granted to authenticated users only.
Hard Drive Protection
HP Managed Devices with hard drives offer encryption. This means any data or information stored on these drives cannot be accessed when not in the device. Print jobs are overwritten automatically after print release.
